An Intimate and Personal Conversation about Spirituality and How It Treats Addiction. Discussing Denial, Finding Faith and a Higher Power, Controlling the Thoughts in My Head, and More….
A long but hopefully not long-winded talk about my addiction to coke and wine, and how I found a faith based on prayer, and a Higher Power made of unconditional love. We share ideas about the force of Love that flows into and through each of us, and which exits us as inspiration, kindness, and compassion.
We discuss the concept that spiritual wisdom is where you find it, in the ancient testaments of man, in movies, even in a song by Sting.
We explore the nature of the addict as part beast, part angel, and part madman. And how our drug abuse blocks the flow of Love through us.
We explore the idea that I need a new set of eyes so I can see the world from a new point of view. That the world is perfect just the way it is. That we are all children of God, however I choose to define it.
The result of all this soul-searching is to find what the mystics called Serenity, which also goes by the name Nirvana, Enlightenment, or the Peace that Passeth Understanding.
